Eddie has served churches in North and South Carolina for over 15 years prior to joining convention leadership where he's served for the last 15 years. He's authored over 170 articles on leadership development, church renewal, deacon ministry and spiritual gifts. He's published Making the Church Work: Converting the Church for the 21st Century (2nd edition released 9/2000) and The Gathered and Scattered Church: Equipping Believers for the 21st Century (2000) and Reframing Spiritual Formation: Discipleship for an Unchurched Culture (2002) and Spiritual Leadership in a Secular World: Building Bridges Instead of Barriers (2005). He is also the author of Strengthening Deacon Ministry for the 21st Century and a monthly online deacon ministry newsletter. Eddie is also a regular contributor to Netresults Magazine and has taught national seminars hosted by Bill Easum, Tom Bandy and Leonard Sweet. He's also taught seminars and consulted with churches, associations, judicatories and denominations all across the United States. He established a partnership relationship with National Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 2005 to work with them in a consulting and coaching capacity. Eddie also serves as Senior Coach and Coach trainer for Valwood Christian Leadership Coaching (www.valwoodcoaching.com) in addition to serving as lead coach for Sustaining Pastoral Excellence study funded by the Lilly Foundation. He has served on faculty or as guest lecturer at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Furman's Pastors School, Duke Divinity School, Campbell Divinity School, Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Gardner-Webb Divinity School.
